Alexander GranAlexander Gran is the founder and editor of WorkTechJournal. He covers AI tools, software, work hardware, and setup for knowledge workers, freelancers, and small teams.

Background

Alexander holds a degree in Automated Control Systems (engineering / applied computer science) and has been building and running businesses since 2001 — more than two decades of hands-on operational, marketing, and technical work across offline and digital ventures.

Over the last several years his focus has shifted to the AI and software stack behind modern work. He works hands-on with the major AI systems used professionally today, including:

  • OpenAI — ChatGPT, Codex, and the GPT-5 model family
  • Anthropic — Claude Sonnet, Opus, and Claude Code
  • Google — Gemini, Imagen (Nano Banana), and related AI tools
  • Perplexity for AI-assisted research and source discovery
  • Midjourney for visual work
  • Cursor and other AI-native developer tools
  • n8n for workflow automation and content pipelines

Alexander also runs paid acquisition campaigns on Google Ads and Yandex, which informs his coverage of tools that need to pay for themselves in real budgets, not just in marketing decks.

Why WorkTechJournal

WorkTechJournal exists to answer one question honestly for people who work online: which tools are actually worth using? Alexander launched the publication to filter signal from noise in a market where every product launch claims to change your workflow.

Personal

Alexander is 46, with family roots in Sweden and Russia. He has traveled to more than 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, East Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia. Travel and remote work have shaped how he thinks about tools that need to work across contexts — not just in one office.

Outside work, his interests include marketing, music and building modern electric guitars, and sports — squash, tennis, ATV, trail biking, and diving.
