How to choose
- Check your connector first: Surface uses a proprietary magnetic connector. Most gaming laptops use a barrel connector (DC plug). Business laptops from Dell, Lenovo, HP, and ASUS increasingly charge via USB-C. Verify which connector your laptop uses before buying a universal USB-C charger that cannot physically connect to your laptop.
- Match wattage to your laptop: Ultrabooks and thin laptops typically need 45–65W. Mid-range business laptops need 65–90W. Gaming and creator laptops often need 100–140W or more. Using a lower-wattage charger will charge the laptop, but slowly or not at all under full CPU/GPU load.
